Impressive Annie Nomination for Denmark’s The Swineherd

ASIFA-Hollywood’s Annie Awards are the highest accolade in animation, celebrating excellence in the art form since 1972. This year, in an amazing achievement for Denmark, Fleng Entertainment and Tumblehead Productions’s The Swineherd has been nominated for the Best Short Subject Annie Award.

The Swineherd is a comedic interpretation of Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale of the same name. A young swineherd guards the King’s pigs in the pigsty at Christmas. Looking for a way to pass the time, he brings out a magic pot and starts the party. When the princess tries to take the pot, antics follow. Tumblehead’s adaptation of the story has their signature style and visual comedy, with a playful theme that has already made the film a Christmas favorite. The Swineherd’s co-directors, Magnus Ingland Møller and Peter Smith from Tumblehead, say:

For 14 years, we’ve been pouring our hearts into our work, dreaming of moments like this. It’s amazing to see our passion and hard work recognized, especially by something as big as the Annie Awards. The Swineherd was distributed by Yummy Films and produced by Søren Fleng, who says:

Their style and exquisite sense of comedic animation timing is simply world-class, and I’m so thrilled that the Hollywood animation industry has recognized this with an Annie Award nomination. This is the first Annie nomination for both Tumblehead and Fleng Entertainment, and represents an exciting recognition of the increasing prominence of Danish animation on the world stage.
